Ok so there is now a few things that need to be checked. Does windows 7 show this card in device manager? If possible shut the pc down and remove the card and replace it back in the system just to rule out a bad contact. If device manager does not list the card and the atheros driver/software can not detect the card it may be faulty. However if device manager does see this card it may be the wrong driver as i know some early edup cards where shipped with a braodcom chipset.

If device manager does see this card can you post its device id string so i can double check the chipset. How to find a device id sting can be found here. Ok this is going to drive me made as that is a common id sting for a pci wifi g card. I have sen every name from linskys to d-link pop up so it must be a very common chipset inside that card. There is one other thing i can try and that is everest. For this to work you will need to remove the atheros driver/software as i need everest to read as much as it can from your card. Download everest ultimate trial 5.01 from here install and run that program with the program running look in the left hand list for network click the little + next to it then click pnp/pci network i hope that should name the chip inside that card.
As you can see there are alot of cards out there with that chipset, edup support sucks badly and they offer nothing your best choice here really is to choose of the these cards but not a well know make such as d-link e.t.c that page will link you to all the downloads for that chipset. You should be able to use just the driver without the software from most of these to work that card. Click windows on that page and it will forward you to what ever page you looking at. If you still have problem let me know as i swear that being such a well known chipset microsoft should have their own drivers out. You know sometimes microsoft are about as much help as cutting your own arm off 6 hours i waited for them to answer me and in the end its a case of we don't know. I have searched and searched your id string and this card is a direct match to your own. It is a early usrobotics card but the id string does match.
Give this driver a try again its really only for windows xp but its worth a shot if nothing else. After this i really don't think i can be of much help to you as even microsoft don't have a clue about that chipset under windows 7.
